Yogurt ProjectDraft/WIP Copy of Yogurt BookIt’s here! After reaching ~100 pages not too long ago, I’d decided to print off an unfinished copy of the book that I intend to make by the end of the year. In all honesty, I feel very proud to have reached this point, especially since the Yogurt Project started so long ago with seemingly no direction. Even if much of the time was spent simply exploring and experimenting, I feel like there really is a direction this time around. The quality of the book itself is surprisingly very good. Starting with the cover, the print uses what seems to be just a standard glossy softcover. Objectively speaking, holding the book should have a familiar feel as to holding any other glossy softcover book. Not that that is a bad thing…
The pages in the book itself turn out to be surprisingly decent, especially since I was a bit skeptical about the paper quality. The paper is 90 GSM un-coated, which pits them slightly around the thickness of typical office paper. The print quality itself is pretty neat, with clear colours and crisp text. The un-coated nature of the paper might also be a plus or minus. The format of the book is not of a typical yonkoma manga. Instead, I’ve decided to take a different approach, in order to have the comics and pictures as large as I can have without much loss. The single-strip-per-page format was adopted, and was organized by their month of release starting from October 2012 and through 2013. In addition to the 4koma comic strips, I’ve also inserted the artwork of Yogurt in between the months I’ve drawn them in. The print quality in general is great. My only minor grip would be the slight bleedthrough on pages with rough sketches on it. Perhaps a thicker paper option would help, but unfortunately, that’s not an available option for me. In the end, this is just an unfinished copy of the book. Everything is subject to change, but judging by my initial impressions of it, not much will change besides the page count. This book cost me about $17.50 CAD to print, with a shipping cost of $13.00 express shipping to where I live. The final product will be distributed in a similar manner by the end of 2013, with an estimated price between $25-$30 (no shipping). Some people have asked already, but I will not be taking preorders. Instead, I’ll be keeping a mailing list with people’s emails to keep everyone notified. It’s been so much fun so far, but it’s not even over yet. There’s still so much that I can do!Send an email to me [here] and I’ll add you to the future mailing list.

It turns out that Berry and Yogurt were planning to go to the movies with their friends.I’m normally not the kind of person that goes out often with friends. It might seem like I’m not very interested, but I actually cherish those moments. In this comic, Yogurt accidentally slips out a pretty cheesy but sentimental line with regards to how she feels about her going out with her friends. Actually, there was one time in the comics where her friends invited her to go to the movies. Short ComicSleep LockAnother comic for the week! I’ve been closing in on my quota far too soon in the recent weeks. This is actually the start of another mini arc. There has been many arcs in the past which typically lasts two-three comics, but I might continue this little arc a little bit longer. It simply starts off with Yogurt trying to wake Berry up. Perhaps there’s something planned for the day that made her panic like that.« Previous Comic        2013 Archive        Next Comic »

Happy Mother’s Day!Seeing what Yogurt had grown up to be, I can only imagine just how proud her mom would be if she were still around. Nonetheless, her mom will always be there, as she lives on within Yogurt, who is the spitting image of her mother. Even if she has not made many memories with her, Yogurt is at the very least grateful of her mother.

Short Recording
A Beginning

I liked how the last piece of the image tracks turned out, so I thought about doing a clean recording of it. Can’t say that it’s a perfect recording, but I think it is certainly better than before. It was fun nonetheless.

I’ve always imagined how the image pieces told a story, different than that found in the comics. If I had to say anything about it, the image pieces revealed a past to Yogurt’s character. In a sense, A Beginning really did signify a beginning to Yogurt’s life of new found friendship! Or at least that’s what I was looking for…
